General Summary: The accounting clerk will be responsible for providing support to our accounting department which includes performing various administrative and clerical tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of the finance department. Additional tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Recording financial transactions: Accounting clerks are responsible for accurately recording financial transactions, such as invoices, receipts, payments, and expenses, into the accounting system. They ensure that all transactions are properly classified and coded.
  • Reconciling accounts: Accounting clerks reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial records to ensure that they match with the company's records. They identify and resolve any discrepancies or errors.
  • Assisting with financial reports: Accounting clerks assist in the preparation of financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. They compile and organize financial data, perform calculations, and generate reports for management review.
  • Managing accounts payable and receivable: Accounting clerks process invoices, issue payments, and maintain records of accounts payable and receivable. They ensure that payments are made on time and follow up on any outstanding invoices or payments.
  • Maintaining financial records: Accounting clerks maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, journal entries, and trial balances. They organize and file financial documents and ensure that they are easily accessible for auditing purposes.
  • Assisting with payroll processing: Accounting clerks may assist with payroll processing, including calculating employee wages, preparing payroll reports, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. They may also handle employee inquiries related to payroll.
  • Providing administrative support: Accounting clerks provide general administrative support to the accounting department, such as answering phone calls, responding to emails, and managing correspondence. They may also assist with scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking meeting minutes.
  • Following accounting procedures and regulations: Accounting clerks adhere to established accounting procedures and regulations to ensure compliance with financial and legal requirements. They may assist in internal and external audits and provide necessary documentation and information.
  • Using accounting software and tools: Accounting clerks utilize accounting software and tools, such as spreadsheets and databases, to perform their duties efficiently. They may also assist in implementing and maintaining accounting systems and procedures.
  • This position requires collaborating with various departments , such as purchasing, sales, and human resources, to gather and exchange financial information. They may also assist in resolving any financial-related issues or discrepancies.

The accounting clerk plays a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting procedures and regulations. They contribute to the efficient operation of the accounting department and help facilitate informed decision-making by providing timely and accurate financial information.

This is an hourly position.

Payrate: $18-$25 based upon experience.
