Our mission is to change the way defense firms do business. Position Summary: The Associate Attorney will assist senior attorneys in providing legal counsel to existing clients. The Associate Attorney is responsible for conducting legal research; drafting documents and pleadings; communicating with clients and experts; drafting and responding to discovery; document review; and assisting with trial and deposition preparation. Associates may represent clients in court and depositions.This opportunity requires a concentration on workers' compensation: specifically, the Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act and Defense Base Act. Location & Commitments: Practice Area / Department: Longshore/Defense Base Act.Status: Full-Time / ExemptWork Schedule: VariesWork Location: HybridResponsibilities: Prepare correspondence and legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings.Conduct legal research, prepare for and attend hearings and/or other legal proceedings, and provide legal counsel with the help of senior attorneys.Analyze conflicts in legal matters, advise clients on solutions, and negotiate on behalf of clients.Communicate with senior attorneys, paralegals, and clients to ensure cases are handled efficiently.Maintain client files to ensure up-to-date information is available to other attorneys, paralegals and support staff.Performs other duties as assigned.Requirements & Competencies: Florida Bar AdmissionJudicial clerkship experience or demonstrate strong research, writing, and legal analysis skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Must possess great time management and problem-solving skills.Superior attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and collaborate with others.Must meet expectations for billing goals.At least 1 year of experience in an insurance defense firm / personal injury.This opportunity requires a concentration in workers' compensation: specifically, the Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act and Defense Base Act.Work Environment: The ability to perform the following physical activities are necessary in the performance of this job: Sit and use a computer for long periods of time; use a computer to accomplish the duties of the position (including typing and seeing); read and write in English; think strategically, communicate expectations, and establish priorities.
