Roles & Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
The Health & Safety (H&S) Coordinator works closely with the Health, Safety & Security (HSS) Director and the Health & Safety (H&S) Manager in Protecting the Magic at LEGOLAND New York Resort (LLNY). Reporting to the H&S Manager, the H&S Coordinator is responsible for supporting all health and safety functions of the resort. The Coordinator will input incident and other pertinent information into the MIDAS safety management system. As well as generating a variety of reports from MIDAS. The Coordinator works with other departments on a variety of projects including working closely with the Technical Services and Attractions Teams for compliance with internal policy for theming projects, Maintenance on submission and tracking of work orders, tracking of Safety Share submissions, or coordinating award presentations. The Coordinator will perform other safety functions within LLNY, as deemed necessary, by the safety leadership team.
Responsibilities:
- Processes incident and injury reports and enters them into the MIDAS safety management system, reviewing documentation for completeness and maintaining all related files and records.
- Creates and generates reports from MIDAS and exports the data into Excel for additional organization and analysis including building tables and charts.
- Maintains the OSHA 301, 300A, and 300 forms in accordance with OSHA regulations.
- Monitors Employee Injury Incidents for accuracy and can identify trends.
- Reviews incident reports to identify hazards and assists in managing corrective action.
- Reads guidance documents, such as policies, and applies the guidance as necessary.
- Assists with coordinating and tracking safety programs, including but not limited to the Safety STAR of the Month program and the Safety Share hazard reporting program.
- Submits and tracks safety-related maintenance work orders.
- Investigates safety hazards, near misses, and injuries.
- Coordinates with the Sign Shop for safety-related projects.
- Works with H&S Manager and departments to ensure that safety policies, procedures, and manuals are updated and accurate.
- Applies regulatory code and consensus standards in reviewing programs and policies and abating hazards.
- Assists with scheduling/completing/tracking safety audits.
- Assists in coordinating and maintaining training and other records in electronic and paper form.
- Communicates effectively with all departments on safety and compliance topics.
- Assist in goal and objective setting for the short term and long-term strategic plan of the team.
- Assists in investigating workers compensation injuries.
- Uses MS Office products such as Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word in performing duties.
- Positively impacts the LLNY safety culture and educates front-line employees on common safety practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required and Desired Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- One to three years of theme park work experience is desired.
- A minimum of 0-3 years of related experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is required.
- Desire and ability to quickly learn and apply new skills including computer applications with confidence.
- Attention to detail is required.
- Requires the ability to read and comprehend regulatory code and consensus standards such as OSHA 1910/1926, NFPA, ANSI, and ASTM.
- Ability to maintain Confidentiality with sensitive information.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, in front of groups, and in writing.
- Ability to produce quality PowerPoint, Excel, and Word products.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule/hours based on business needs, to include evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
- A friendly, polite and customer service-oriented demeanor is required.
- Effective decision-making skills are required.
- Ability to work unsupervised on a variety of projects is required.
- Must be able to independently use a variety of reference resources to find answers.
Education:
- A high school diploma or general education degree (or equivalent education and experience) is required.
- Pursuing a college degree or other professional certification(s) preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work in an office setting.
- Ability to spend extended periods of time outdoors in the park in varying weather conditions.
- Maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance and conform to LEGOLAND New York Resorts appearance standards.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walking about the park site, and interacting with Model Citizens.
Work Environment:
- Primary work environment is an office setting.
- Will spend time in the park in varying weather conditions.
