Pharmacy Tech-Inventory Specialist

Position Summary Responsible for ordering/receiving medications for both inpatient pharmacy and outpatient Cancer and Infusion pharmacy wholesaler and direct order accounts. Maintain track And trace information for all non-wholesaler accounts. Manage monthly high-dollar inventory for Outpatient Cancer and Infusion medications and work with specialty pharmacies to assure shipment/receipt of Patient own medications. Manage annual end of year Inpatient and Infusion Medication inventories. Properly code all invoices for proper budget addition and Documentation. May be asked to do other certified pharmacy technician duties as needed. Reports to Pharmacy Manager/Director. Education, License, & Cert * High School Diploma. * Certified Pharmacy Technician Training Program or evidence of experience with certification preferred. * Pharmacy Technician Certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or other * equivalent agency such as American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists preferred. Experience Work as certified pharmacy technician in hospital setting preferred but not required. Licenses & Certifications Driver's License Essential Functions * Determine and maintain adequate stock levels of all medications, IV solutions, pharmacy supplies, Unit-dose packaging materials. * Place orders with drug wholesaler, direct order contracts with various manufacturers, Eprocurement through Oracle, orders for office supplies via approved vendor * Place orders through appropriate vendor for other departments within Guthrie Cortland Medical Center * Complete billing and distribution of medications to other departments. * Reconcile all paperwork required for purchasing and receiving of pharmacy orders. Ensure correct products are received and billed according to contract and quoted price. * Receive and restock orders from wholesaler and direct ship manufacturers, Eprocurement, office supply vendors. * Mark invoices with appropriate classification for finance department and verify receipt of orders with finance so that they can pay invoices. Keep organized file of all invoices. * Help organize and participate in monthly Outpatient Chemotherapy Inventory, ambulatory infusion inventory, and biannual pharmacy inventory. Send necessary reports to finance department. * Review each drug storage area including ADC Cabinets on Patient Care Areas for outdated medications on a rotational basis. * Organize outdated medications and work with return drug vendor to schedule pickup of outdated medications and track their reimbursement through online database. * Track manufacturer drug shortages and communicate potential shortages to pharmacy staff. * Process Drug Recalls and keep log of all recall activity. * Participation on hospital team for management of the 340B Purchasing Program. Responsible for majority of pharmacy wholesaler purchases through daily ordering utilizing split purchasing. Assists with monitoring of accumulated charges for eligible purchases through Sentry reports. Assists with monitoring for any compliance related issues. Other 340B program responsibilities as delineated in the 340B policies and procedures. Other Duties * Assist other certified pharmacy techs in any process when staffing is short. * Work Rotation: Monday-Friday Days Pay range for this position is $16.00-22.37/hr
