Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at the University of New Haven is seeking an experienced licensed clinician to join our staff, with a focus on serving underrepresented populations. This is a full-time (35 hour) 12-month position. CAPS is an interdisciplinary team including clinical disciplines and close collaboration with health services, as well as other campus partners. The clinical role at CAPS includes individual counseling to students, crisis management, supervision, campus outreach to the student body, collaboration with campus partners, and participation on campus committees. We are seeking a clinician with strong clinical experience and knowledge, possible area of specialty in eating disorders, substance use, and diversity & inclusion, and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, both as a part of clinical work and in furthering the campus community. A strong candidate will have knowledge and skills around short term, intensive work. Any candidates must be licensed within the state of Connecticut, holding a degree in a related field. You are: Able to handle multiple priorities with strong organizational and time management skills Able to problem solve, make decisions, show flexibility and adaptability particularly in a fast-paced environment Having knowledge of issues impacting college students Experienced in crisis intervention and response, preferably in a higher education setting Having knowledge of issues impacting underrepresented and marginalized populations You will: Report to Director of CAPS Works closely with CAPS staff and related campus partners Provides individual, group and crisis counseling to students of UNH Provides after hours emergency on-call coverage on a rotating basis Creates and implements outreach opportunities to the campus community, available for occasional after hours outreach Sits on various campus committees as a CAPS representative Works closely with campus partners to support the well-being of our students and provide a CAPS perspective Liaisons with the university key diversity offices- Myatt Center for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, DEI-AB Committee, and Diversity officer as CAPS representatives Supervises trainees and interns Provides training to CAPS staff and to campus staff related to counseling, mental health, their area of expertise Any other needed duties assigned to fulfill role You need: Licensed CT in related field (LCSW, PhD, PsyD, LMFT, LPC) Clinical background of at least three years Area of expertise (such as eating disorders, substance use, athletics, LGBTQIA, working with diverse students) Knowledge/ experience working with underrepresented, diverse populations Clinically skilled, of particular interest in intensive, short term models Experience with or ability to supervise trainee clinicians and interns Strong communication and interpersonal skills Spanish speaking clinician preferred Updated COVID-19 Vaccination Drivers License Whats in it for you: Health & Welfare Programs: Employees and their eligible family members, including spouses and dependent are eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Programs.
