Description

Adams Vegetable Oils Inc. (AVO) is a leading provider of specialty vegetable oils, supplying both domestic and international customers in a wide range of markets.

The company is currently seeking qualified candidates for Lab Intern at its oil refining plant, located in Arbuckle California (approximately 40 mi. North of Sacramento).

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

The Lab Intern will support AVO Operations by working side by side with experienced staff in determining quality parameters for incoming, work in process, and outgoing products in accordance with Food Safety and Research & Development efforts. Special projects related to these testing parameters may also be assigned.
  • Perform & optimize test methods with a variety of equipment including auto-titrators, GC, GC-MS, ICP
  • Research new testing protocols or parameters in support of R&D efforts
  • Learn and improve sample management and rotation
  • Perform data management and data analysis on testing results via the company's ERP system
  • Manage samples with third party labs
  • Provide written analysis and reports
  • Optimize existing or new processes in the lab and in the plant
  • Revise Workflows and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Improve energy efficiency and safety
  • Handle key logistics
  • Improve equipment reliability
  • Increase operator skill or training

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Basic/Required:
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Food Science, or equivalent field of study
  • Practical lab exposure through lab coursework
  • Greater than 30 hours of earned college credit
Preferred:
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Position Requirements:
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Available for a minimum of 10 hours per week
  • Willing to work in any of our operating locations
