DescriptionAt Oceans Behavioral Hospital Biloxi, healing is our focus. Utilizing proven, innovative, and progressive therapies, our qualified professionals strive to promote long-term wellness through a range of inpatient and outpatient psychiatric counseling and treatment options.The Housekeeper assists the department in providing quality service that positively impacts patient stay at our facility. This will consist of providing cleaning services which duties included sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing, wiping and cleaning with approved chemicals to all areas of the hospital. Aspects of services include, but are not limited to, cleaning occupied and discharged patient rooms, sterile areas, clinical departments, offices, public areas, as well as floor care and carpet care. Responsibilities also include collection of infectious waste and disposal of non-infectious waste, disseminating clean linen, stocking clean linen room and supply rooms and removing soiled linens. All duties to be done in accordance with Joint Commission, Federal and State regulations, Oceans Behavioral Mission, policies and procedures and Performance Improvement Standards.Essential Functions: Cleans and sanitizes all areas of the facility in accordance with established policies. Cleans and disinfects patients' rooms and baths daily. Performs terminal cleaning after transfer or discharges 100% of the time. Cleans, empties, dusts, sanitizes, nursing stations, non-patient care areas, laundry room, restrooms, sitting rooms and dining rooms daily. Dusts and mops all hard floors; buffs, strips, waxes as needed for hard floors; shampoos carpets when needed; cleans drapes. Follows infection control procedures for isolation cleaning 100% of the time; uses universal precautions 100% of the time. Collects and distributes clean linen and contains soiled linen in proper containers; Follows procedures for disposal of biohazard waste and other waste; follows directions for use of cleaning chemicals. Cleans, maintains and monitors equipment in good condition at all times; Monitors, orders and uses linen in a cost-effective manner. Reports broken, defective patient care/room equipment; completes work request for repairs. Performs other duties and projects as assigned. Effectively applies supportive behavior when assisting in the control of patients who exhibit unacceptable behavior. Oversees patient activities and does not leave patients unattended to ensure safety; Implements patient care activities under the direction and supervision of licensed nursing personnel Adheres to safety regulations of facility as per policies and procedures and external regulatory/credentialing bodies. Complies with standard/universal precautions and infection control policies and attends required in-services to keep self-informed. Performs safety observation and fall protocol and one to one protocol as directed; assists at risk/physically challenged patients with mobility needs as needed. Communicates and documents patient observation and date effectively. Communicates with the Transportation Coordinator to establish a schedule for picking up and dropping off patients in a timely manner; communicates with referral sources and patient families in appropriate manner while transporting patients. Maintains the on call phone to be available to communicate with nursing and admission staff while transporting patients.; communicates patients not able to be picked up/absentees to nursing staff in a timely manner. RequirementsEducational / Experience Requirements:Must be able to read and write in order to read labels and containers of chemicals used, order supplies, complete inventories.High school graduate preferred.Minimum of six months previous hospital housekeeping or janitorial or a minimum of one-year experience related to this position.Qualifications / Skills:Good communication skills needed. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide housekeeping services appropriate to any age-related disability needs of the patients served.Ability and willingness to supervise and work cooperatively with others.Considerable, initiative and judgment involved leading housekeeping in providing an aseptically clean environment.A working knowledge of Infection Control, Safety Principles, and share training.Must successfully complete CPR certification and an Oceans approved behavioral health de-escalation program.Work Environment:Good communication skills needed. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide housekeeping services appropriate to any age-related disability needs of the patients served.Ability and willingness to supervise and work cooperatively with others.Considerable, initiative and judgment involved leading housekeeping in providing an aseptically clean environment.A working knowledge of Infection Control, Safety Principles, and share training.Must successfully complete CPR certification and an Oceans approved behavioral health de-escalation program.
