Responsibilities
  • Requires advanced experience with Veritas NetBackup, SAN attached storage, tape libraries, and other enterprise level backup hardware.
  • Must be familiar with and able to utilize industry and vendor best practices.
  • Will be required to create reports, improve/create processes/procedures, monitor system health, optimize system performance, proactively fix issues, architect systems, respond and resolve network anomalies and attacks, conduct trending and analysis, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Must have experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Experienced with applying DOD STIGs to backup/recovery systems.
  • create custom scripts.
  • Work closely with the team, government, and industry engineers, and managers to advise them on operationally relevant status of assigned tasks.
  • Should have experience operating in a DOD unclassified/classified networking environment.
  • Experience in disaster Recovery solutions
  • Extensive Experience in installing, configuring Backup Infrastructures, Do Versions upgrades, Migration from one platform to another, document specifications, project plans, configurations, test plans and results
  • Monitor and maintain all backup infrastructure including servers, tape libraries and disk arrays.
  • Coordinate with Vendors on issues with software, hardware or the interaction between the key stakeholder parties.
  • Conduct capacity planning and performance analysis of backup infrastructure.
  • Deploy Projects to upgrade existing infrastructure or deploy new system to increase performance or capacity.
  • Respond to and resolve escalated customer related issues.
  • Utilize scripting skills and in-depth knowledge of both NetBackup, Quantum and Oracle tape library units.

Qualifications
  • Possess refined critical thinking skills, should be a motivated self-starter, and multi-task capable

  • Ability to lift, rack and provision government furnished equipment (GFE) servers
Education/Certification(s):
  • Technical degree, Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Systems, S.T.E.M. or 2-4 years’ relevant experience in Information Technology preferably with systems or applications administration
  • SolarWinds Academy training course topics recommended:
    • Orion Platform, NPM, NCM, IPAM, SCM, SAM, VMAN, VOIP: SolarWinds platform, Deploying, Alerts and Reports, Dashboards, Polling, Best Practices, Custom SQL, High Availability, Troubleshooting Permissions, Configuring Views; Getting Started with ; App Monitoring; Configure
  • Requires a DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification:
    • CompTIA Security+ CE (Continuing Education) or Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) CE
    • (ISC)² Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)
    • GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC) or Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP)
  • Requires one or more DoDM 8140.03 Computing Environment/Operating System (CE/OS) Defense Cyberspace Workforce Certification (DCWF); One CE Application Certification (Jr/Mid/Sr Level; or acquire within 120 days):
    • Veritas Certified Professional (VCP) | Jr/Mid Pass one of following:
      • VCP-Veritas NetBackup Administrator (Exam VCS-285)
      • VCP-Veritas NetBackup and NetBackup Appliance Administrator (Exam VCS-284)
    • Veritas Certified Specialist (VCS) | Sr Level Pass both:
      • VCS-Veritas NetBackup Administrator (Exam VCS-284)
      • VCS-Veritas NetBackup and NetBackup Appliance Administrator (Exam VCS-284)
    • Microsoft based certification (current; older retired MCSE will be considered):
      • Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals
      • Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate
      • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
      • Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate
      • Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access AdministratorAssociate
    • Optional CE (Computing Environment) Application Cert: Splunk Core Certified User or Power User
Clearance: 

Active DoD Secret required or ability to complete investigation process for interim with potential to upgrade to Top Secret clearance preferred.
