Sr. Electrician

Duties: Provide lead supervision over subordinate staff: prioritize and delegate work assignments; review work in progress; correct deficiencies; provide training for new employees. Repair and replace defective or worn electrical and electronic parts in motors, generators, pumps, telemetry equipment, controllers, switches and other facilities and equipment. Test, locate, and repair damaged electrical and electronic circuitry in a equipment. Inspect newly installed electrical and electronic equipment and lighting to ensure safe and satisfactory functioning. Revise and design a wide variety of electrical systems related to municipal facilities and equipment as necessary. Operate electrical maintenance tools and equipment including aerial lifts, vole meters and a wide variety of hand tools. Able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics related to electrical systems.

Qualifications: Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, equipment, and procedures used in the repair of electrical and electronic devices. Principles of electrical and electronic repair, maintenance and system design. Understand and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Work evenings and weekends in emergency situations. 2 years of journey level experience in the installation, repair, replacement, and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment, systems, and components. Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade supplemented by the completion of a formal electrical technology apprenticeship program. Possession of, or ability to obtain an appropriate, valid driver's license. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Journeyman Electrician Card issued by the City of Jackson.
