Description

Provides care for animals at the Oxford Animal Resource Center. Treats animals in a humane way demonstrating kindness and respect. Seeks socialization for them in order to make them more adoptable. Maintains a clean and sanitary environment for animals under the care of OARC.

Supervision Received

The immediate supervisor for this position is the Assistant Director of the Oxford Animal
Resource Center. The direct supervisor is the Director of the Oxford Animal Resource
Center

**The schedule for this position rotates including weekends**

Primary Job Duties:

•Treat staff and public by leading with kindness and compassion in all actions, build
trust with the community and staff by following through on commitments,
encourage staff self-care and work-life balance, and work to build strong
communication and honest feedback
•Sanitize/clean and maintain kennels and animal living areas on a daily basis. This
also includes resetting kennels with clean laundry, toys, and water bucket
•Clean other shelter areas. Sweep, mop, take out garbage, organize areas
•Clean and sanitize shelter equipment and intake processing areas: carriers,
leashes, dog/cat scales, refrigerator for vaccines, and counter top equipment
•Wash food and water bowls and put them away in an orderly fashion
•Provide each animal with food and water following approved feeding protocols
•Help as needed with the intake of new animals and inspection

•Follow proper safety measures and procedures when using chemicals and cleaning supplies
•Help with washing, drying, folding of laundry, and put away in an orderly fashion
•Help maintain a clean and organized warehouse
•Inform supervisor of any health issues or changes with the animals
•Answer phones and take messages in a friendly and helpful manner
•Responsible for all other duties as assigned by the Director of the OARC

Secondary Duties/ Relief Duties

•Assist other employees, clients, and volunteers in a cheerful and respectful manner as a representative of the OARC when your designated duties are complete
•Assist potential adopters with meet and greets
•Drop off and pick up animals from surgery/vet appointments
•Assist Animal Resource Officer on potential calls, including but not limited to taking an overnight call shift and responding in a timely and professional manner in accordance with the protocols in place
