Position Summary:The Pharmacy Informatics Analyst (PIA) is responsible for promoting the safe, efficient, effective, timely, and optimal use of medications. through effective design, development, and implementation of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Clinical Decision Support across the organization. The PIA must function as the clinical expert, educator, consultant, leader and researcher for the CMC Clinical Information Systems in matters relating to medication management.Qualifications:Education:Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy, Information Systems or related field Experience:Three (3) years' experience in Information Systems implementing and supporting pharmacy clinical application systems required.Three (3) years' Pharmacy practice in a hospital setting preferred. Experience with automated dispensing cabinets (Omnicell, Pyxis, Accudose). Familiarity with healthcare regulatory and reporting requirements preferred.Duties & Responsibilities:Responsible for analyzing, designing, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating information and communication systems that improve medication-related outcomes, and the training of clinical staff in medication-related clinical information system projects. Supports the clinical information system components of medication management in ordering, dispensing, and administration of medications. Lead, manage and communicate in a timely fashion the risks and changes associated with the development, implementation, safety, and use of systems that support medication management. This function includes education of providers, nursing, pharmacy, and ancillary staff as appropriate on workflow, system design, proposed and actual changes. Possesses an understanding of basic software and database design and an ability to grasp the big picture, coupled with analytical skills to develop evidence-driven answers for improved clinical outcomes, controlled costs, and optimized Health Information System operations. Plays a key role in governing the data, information, and knowledge assets across all systems that support medication management. Must work with key stakeholders across the organization to ensure the successful integration of the hospital's clinical Information system with the overall hospital information system and outside systems as they relate to medications. Ensures the adoption of standard human and machine interpretable formats, utilize standardized terminology, ensure that information and knowledge are platform-independent, and develop tools to effectively maintain and manage organization data, information, and knowledge related to medication management. Must clarify needs, prioritize requests, and facilitate adaptation and utilization of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) as it relates to the inpatient and ambulatory prescriber order entry system. This includes working in coordination with the assigned management staff to give input about the maintenance and update of order sets in regards to medications and the hospital formulary. Must also work in collaboration with software vendors to make sure systems have up-to-date clinical information relating to new drugs, new treatment guidance, and new procedures. Must communicate all events affecting the timely installation and successful operation of the hospital's clinical Information system effectively with the department leadership.Works with key stakeholders across the organization to facilitate compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation, NIAHO standards, national regulatory objectives, such as Promoting Interoperability and MIPS, and reporting of clinical quality measure data.Implement and configure Cerner Millennium PharmNet software to meet the organization's pharmacy management needs.Collaborate with pharmacy staff to gather requirements and design workflows that align with best practices and regulatory standards.Assist with the design and build of order sets, Powerplans, medication order sentences, drug dose checking alerts, and similar processes.Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and resolution of technical issues related to Cerner Millennium PharmNet, automated dispensing systems, and other software that may be required for pharmacy operations.Provide end-user training and support to pharmacy staff on the effective utilization of the system. Monitor system performance, identify areas for improvement, and recommend enhancements to optimize pharmacy operations.Collaborate with the IT team to integrate Cerner Millennium PharmNet with other healthcare systems and medication dispensing machines.Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, such as HIPAA, in all aspects of pharmacy system operations.Stay updated with new releases, features, and upgrades of Cerner Millennium PharmNet and communicate relevant information to the team.Maintain system documentation, including configuration settings, user manuals, and standard operating procedures.Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, clinical staff, physicians, and department heads required.Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Explorer and PowerPoint required.Exemplary core customer service skills strongly required.Strong organizational skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills required.Knowledge of leadership, creativity, teaching, education, and group dynamics preferred.
