All Staff will support the mission, vision, and values of the Kankakee School District by embedding them into the childcare programming and participating in KSD activities and initiatives.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Early childhood education experience desirable
  • Full Time Position
  • 2023-2024 School Year

    3. Respect for children and adults, including fellow staff members
    4. Flexibility, understanding and patience
    5. Physical and mental health that do not interfere with childcare responsibilities
    6. Maintain positive and frequent interactions with children
    7. Listening skills, availability and responsiveness to children
    8. Sensitivity to children's socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds, individual needs and capabilities
    9. J. Use of positive discipline and guidance techniques
    10. Ability to provide an environment in which children can feel comfortable, relaxed, happy and involved in play, recreation and other activities
    11. Skills to help children meet their developmental and emotional needs
    12. Skills in planning, directing, and conducting programs that meet the children's basic needs.

CLASSROOM RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Keep all records necessary for the classroom such as: attendance, daily notes, accident reports etc.
  2. Maintain child/staff ratios at all times and adhere to requirements set.
  3. Keep room clean and safe.
  4. Establish routines
  5. Greet parents with respect and clear expectations.
  6. Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  7. Maintain flexibility in scheduling due to possible changes being necessary to provide the best care for the students.
  8. Other duties as assigned.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
* Candidate must be able to lift 40 pounds *Assume postures in low level positions that best allow physical and visual contact with children * Must be able to sustain a high level of energy * Bend to perform various tasks numerous times throughout the day * Sit on the floor * Have the ability to move from a seated position to a standing position promptly to respond to emergency situations * Perform all activities with children, i.e. jump, dance, walk, and run, etc. for extended periods of time, both indoor and outdoor environment are typically found in a childcare facility. Depending upon activities and season, you may be required to be outdoors for regular, prolonged activities. * Must possess acceptable hearing and visual capabilities in order to monitor the environment and children's well-being * Must be able to excel in an ambiguous and continuously changing environment * Candidate will need to be flexible and be able to respond quickly and appropriately to changing situations
