The ideal candidate will support Intertek Alchemy's training platforms and products and be ready to use creativity and results-oriented critical thinking to meet complex challenges and improve our reports offering. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and maintenance of our advanced software applications. You will lead technical initiatives, provide guidance to the development team, and leverage your expertise in strategies for acquiring, analyzing, and reporting on data. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to complex projects and mentor other developers, while driving business analytics and AI innovation built on existing data.

Responsibilities:
  • Build scalable, robust, and maintainable reporting solutions that meet performance and security requirements
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the development team, fostering growth and knowledge sharing
  • Develop clean, efficient, and well-documented code, adhering to existing architecture coding standards
  • Conduct comprehensive testing, debugging, and code reviews to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions
  • Identify risks in data models used to build reporting, analytics, and AI solutions
  • Create and maintain reports for a suite of existing applications and provide production support when needed
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze data and reporting requirements, propose technical solutions, and drive project success
  • Optimize database schemas, write advanced SQL queries, and ensure database performance and reliability
  • Develop secure and resilient data with the goal of providing relevant insights to business and customers
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to address reported issues, perform troubleshooting, and ensure software quality
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, enhance development processes, and promote innovation within the team
  • Document technical specifications, system architecture, and codebase to facilitate knowledge sharing and maintain technical documentation
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 6 or more years experience working as a Data Engineer or Software Developer, with a focus on reporting and analytics in complex projects
  • In-depth knowledge of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and developing scalable, high-performance software systems
  • Proven experience in database optimization, advanced SQL query writing, and data modeling
  • Proficiency in Snowflake data warehouse and MySQL 8
  • Experience in AI/ML modeling
  • Proven experience optimizing data warehouse and reporting
  • Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor junior developers, and drive project success
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical challenges and propose effective solutions
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality software solutions within agreed-upon timelines
  • Experience monitoring, refining, and reporting on the performance of data management systems
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A master's degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related major
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Experience building a data model to get relevant insights from data, operational efficiency, and other essential performance metrics
  • Experience with multiple implementations of data warehouse reporting
  • Experience automating testing processes and integrating them with AWS monitoring tools
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
  • Experience with performance optimization, scalability, and security practices
  • Contributions to open-source projects or a strong portfolio of complex projects demonstrating technical skills
  • Experience with Linux, Apache, PHP, Node, Rustici, and/or Lambda + S3
  • Experience with Learning Management or HRIS software
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and regulations (PCI, PII, PHI, HIPAA, GDPR, etc.)
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools, especially PowerBI
  • Use of SAFe or another scaled agile methodology
