A Brief Overview
The role of Manager, Anatomic Pathology will have system oversight for all locations within Anatomic Pathology Laboratory and Surgical Pathology operations.

What you will do

  • The Manager will oversee the supervisory team who will be responsible for the operational duties of the anatomic pathology laboratory including accessioning, pathology administrative, cytology, histology and IHC department operations. Issues of complexity will be escalated to Manager for resolution. Manager will provide technical expertise to the laboratory as needed.
  • Will also ensure that quality standards are being met, will develop mechanisms to measure, monitor and improve specimen processing quality and turnaround times.
  • Will serve as the liaison to various internal and external partners. Surgeons, Hospital Leadership, Outreach Customers Leadership, Surgical Staff, Medical Staff, Information Technology Reps, and technical analysts (any examples??)
  • Maintains good relationships with customers, physicians, and colleagues to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Work with the Vice President to coordinate a wide variety of administrative, technical, fiscal, and educational activities to provide quality laboratory services.
  • Directs the AP information system activities and serves as the primary liaison with Lab IT and IS personnel for the UH System.
Qualifications:
Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a biological or chemical science or Laboratory science. Required
Experience Qualifications
  • 10+ years experience in histopathology or cytology laboratory with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory position. Required
Skills and Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of procedures, quality standards safety and compliance regulations, regulatory and accreditation standards, process improvement and billing practices. (Required proficiency)
  • Technical expertise in all lab areas (Required proficiency)
  • Leadership and communication skills (Required proficiency)
  • Use of computer word processing, spreadsheet and LIS software (Required proficiency)
  • Budget preparation (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
  • Pathology/Cytologist (CT-ASCP) or equivalent certification Required
  • Histotechnologist (HTL) Required
