JOB SUMMARY: OFFICE NURSE (RN or LPN) Under the general supervision of the Practice Manager, the Office Nurse is responsible for working with the providers and practice team to coordinate and ensure the delivery of quality care and medical services.JOB RESPONSIBILITES: OFFICE NURSE (RN or LPN) Supply, Equipment and Medication CoordinationSupervises the maintenance of an inventory of supplies and equipment as required to perform clinical servicesEnsures that emergency equipment is checked and functionalCares, cleans, and sterilizes equipment per instructions or established proceduresEnsures hazardous materials are stored, handled, and disposed of in accordance with Hospital policiesEnsures vaccines are stored in accordance with standards of the NH Immunization ProgramWorks in collaboration with the Pharmacy Department regarding patients who are in need/eligible for sample medications, adhering to established process of communication and procurement at Huggins pharmacyOrders medical supplies and medications/immunizations as needed and keeps exam rooms and bathrooms stockedDirect Clinical CareAccurately documents patient's chief complaint, medical history, and vital signs and completes pertinent forms within the Electronic Medical Record and in accordance with the Best Practice Work FlowsPrepares/instructs/positions and drapes the patientPerforms EKGs, rapid strep screens, pregnancy tests, INR, flu swabs, and other tests that may be ordered by the Physician or Provider in accordance with CLIA waived regulationsPerforms phlebotomy as neededAssists in minor surgeries and procedures such as pap smears, suturing, dressing changes, catheterizations, skin lesion excision and casting utilizing appropriate aseptic and sterile techniquesProvide patients with educational materials in collaboration with the Provider. Instructs patients about medications, diet, and exercise; care plan goals and preventative guidelines specific to the diagnosisPrepares and administers medication as directed by Physician or Provider or as indicated in the patient recordEnsures timely telephone assessments, including triage of appropriate care for patients with accurate documentation and prioritized schedulingOrders medications within Hospital policy for refills and prescription processingIn collaboration with the patient's Provider, provides nurse visits that enhance compliance with treatment plan goals. Documents each visit so as to allow for appropriate coding and billingPatient Access and Office CoordinationSchedules appointments and completes orders for patients for appointments, procedures, tests, and consultations with other Providers as requested by the ProviderCompletes and processes referrals, pre-certifications, or pre-approvals as neededAnswers the telephone, files, and retrieves records as neededEnsures efficient patient flow and provides timely assessment of patients presenting at the officeClinical SupportProvides clinical support for all Providers and PhysiciansAssists Providers and Physicians with review of reports and clinical studiesAssists Providers and Physicians with communication to patients regarding test results, recommendations, and responses to treatment plansPrepares the examination room with needed supplies, instruments, and equipment, and maintains room in a clean mannerEnsures the Providers and Physicians are on schedule being mindful of emergencies and unexpected interruptionsPrepares specimens and documentation for processing or transportation to processing facilityEnsures vaccines are handled and administered in accordance with standards of the NH Immunization Program with provision for reporting of adverse eventsActs as a clinical leader and a mentor in the practice providing feedback and guidance to Medical AssistantsCommunicates clinical education needs to the Practice Coordinator and Practice Director in an effort to optimize functional team capacityWorks with Practice Director and Practice Coordinator to improve and/or implement clinical workflows within the practiceWorks with Care Coordinators and Quality Management liaisons to help close identified patient care gaps; inspire clinical teams to strive for targeted quality goals; and link patients and their family members to resources for optimal care complianceOUR IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS: Completion of RN or LPN programNH state licenseActive BLS ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Location: 240 South Main Street.
