Description

The Interconnection Manager will serve as the lead for the company's transmission and interconnection activities from a market and technical perspective. The primary responsibilities will include oversight of the transmission and interconnection process for the project portfolio.

What you'll do:
• Provide technical input to Project Development, Sales, Finance, Operations, and EPC teams as projects are evaluated for purchase, development, and ongoing investment.
• Interface with utilities on all calls and meetings.

o Attend all necessary site walks with the interconnecting utility and provide the proper feedback and guidance to the project team.
• Assist the project team in creating and evaluating requests for proposals for interconnection subcontract work. Continuously analyze and manage site interconnection designs for optimum cost and constructability.
• Participate in all utility related project reviews, either in person or remote, providing all necessary project updates to ensure established timelines are met.
• Participate in regional and national organizations and policy initiatives related to expanding grid access and modifying regulations for solar + storage projects and microgrids.
• Determine the optimum plan/strategy for project interconnection using analytical tools and methods.
• Assist in in project commissioning, acceptance testing and grid integration.
• Work with leadership and internal/external stakeholders to grow the company's portfolio through the identification of new transmission and interconnection opportunities.
• Work closely with utilities to identify and resolve integration-related issues; provide technical and strategic solutions to utilities and internal teams to ensure project interconnection.
• Understanding of the interconnection process to the broader organization for all active markets.
• Develop a thorough understanding and evaluation of potential interconnection options for various projects, and the related costs, benefits, and challenges for each option.
• Travel to project sites to assist project commissioning and signal check-out activities of SCADA communications.
• Inspect construction installation to ensure that construction is installed per the IFC drawings. Ensure engineering designs comply with UL, IEEE, and other industry requirements.
• Develop processes and training programs for staff on MV relay components and controls. Manage and ensure plant start-up, testing, and commissioning activities are executed per the project schedules through coordination with all key stakeholders. All work performed must comply with company safety, quality, and industry standards.
• Provide written testing and commissioning documentation necessary to support business needs, achieving successful plant energization and project close out.
• Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and problem solving.
• Have a high degree of familiarity with the National Electric Code regarding PV Solar Systems.

What you'll need:
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited program or 5+ years of related experience.
• Proficiency with creating Preliminary Interconnection Cost Estimates.
• Experience working with utilities, ISO/RTOs, public utility commissions, and regulators.
• Proficiency with reading blueprints, plans, specs, contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
• Must be detail-oriented and efficient in problem solving.
• Proficiency with Procore or other construction management software.

Bonus Points:
• Electrical License in the state of MN and/or any states NES is building projects, or the ability to obtain your P.E.
• Experience working with project or renewable development teams a plus.
• Two years minimum of overseeing solar or related commercial or utility scale projects.
• Current established relationships with Maine utilities (e.g., Versant)
