Our five Cardiothoracic Surgery Step-down Units encompass 120 beds staffed for superior nursing care. These units see the most complex cardiac cases worldwide. J51 cares for patients receiving coronary artery bypass surgery, valve repair or replacement and minimally invasive or off-pump coronary bypass surgery. In addition to this post-operative open heart patient population, we also care for all cardiac-related admissions, including Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD/RVAD) on all three units, Total Artificial Hearts (TAH) on J51/J53, and nitroglycerin drips to manage chest pain on J62.
A Registered Nurse Resident will become a part of our family and experience one of the most inclusive, well-rounded, and prosperous training programs. You will work alongside seasoned nurses who are eager to educate and coach new graduates.
What to expect during your residency program:
• A successful coach will be available 24/7.
• New graduate orientation is 12 weeks and includes support from a clinical instructor throughout orientation.
• Weekly check-ins to ensure personal and professional goals are met.
• Personal assessments to determine areas for growth and opportunity.
• Numerous Opportunities for Professional Growth and Development
The ideal caregiver is someone who:
• Is a team player.
• Has excellent communication skills.
• Can adapt to change.
• Has an interest in growing leadership skills.
• Can critically think and problem solve for patients’ best interests.
This is an excellent opportunity for new graduates to discover Cleveland Clinic and gain hands-on experience in this rewarding unit. Cleveland Clinic values and supports our nurses by offering student loan repayment and tuition reimbursement to eligible full- and part-time RNs.
