We are actively seeking to fill the position of Program Manager II, based in one of our advanced R&D facilities located in Westford, MA or Cranston, RI. This role offers a hybrid work environment, requiring three days of in-office presence and allowing two days of remote work each week.


What You Will Do:

The Program Manager will be accountable for the coordination and successful execution of New Product Introduction (NPI) projects concerning Fire Detection Panels and Notification Devices or Fire Suppression products and systems. This role entails overseeing all facets of projects, establishing deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring as well as summarizing project progress.

  • You will leverage your extensive experience and sound judgment to strategically plan and accomplish objectives, engaging in a diverse range of tasks.

  • Prepare comprehensive reports for upper management regarding project statuses. Maintain familiarity with various engineering, project management, and product concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Execute tasks with quality and timeliness, whether under direct supervision or independently.

  • Establish and sustain effective working relationships across teams.

  • Utilize strong organizational navigation skills to facilitate progress and drive results.

  • Uphold the organization’s values by promptly escalating issues to the appropriate managers for resolution, sharing best practices across teams, serving as a brand advocate, and mentoring others to foster a supportive work environment.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders, offering assistance with issues or concerns to ensure satisfactory resolution.

What We Look For:


Required:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical).

  • 8+ years of professional experience in product design and new product introduction within a manufacturing context (e.g., collaboration with design engineers, manufacturing, sourcing, product management, marketing, etc.).

  • 5+ years of experience in program management.

  • Proven track record of successfully managing product development projects to completion.

  • Capacity to navigate ambiguity, manage change effectively, transition priorities, and make sound decisions.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Project and Excel.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, along with strong analytical, writing, and presentation abilities.

  • Strong conflict management and critical thinking skills.

  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Familiarity with PMI's Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK®).

  • Meticulous attention to detail and technical accuracy.

  • Outstanding organizational and technical competencies.

  • Effective interpersonal and multitasking skills.

  • Product launch experience is essential.

Preferred:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

  • Proficiency in Visio.

  • Experience within the fire protection industry.

About the Manager:

My name is Raul Pereira. I’ve been working in the Fire Suppression & Detection industry for 9+ years and 35+ years in consumer product’s industry. My experience includes research, product design and development, manufacturing implementation, program management and project life cycle process development. If you consider this role, we will work together in a collaborative team environment where each program manager is responsible for the coordination and completion of projects and oversee all aspects of NPI projects. You will lead a project cross functional team that spans across multiple Johnson Controls development and manufacturing sites. Expect to be challenged in this role to learn new tools and systems, tackle complicated and challenging projects, and make judgements in the face of uncertainty. As a leader, I’m focused on continuous learning and development – both building our own product development skillsets and improving our processes and products.
