We are seeking an Imaging Student Extern PRN for our team to ensure that we continue to provide all patients with high quality, e??The Imaging Student Extern delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care skills while gaining practical experience and knowledge in imaging principles. Under the supervision of a Registered Radiologic Technologist, the Imaging Student Extern prepares for and assists with x-ray procedures, in accordance with the Extern’s skills/training and the needs of the Department. The Imaging Student Extern must be currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited school of radiography and can perform higher-level procedures once competency is achieved. ??

Job Summary and Qualifications

??The Imaging Student Extern delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care skills while gaining practical experience and knowledge in imaging principles. Under the supervision of a Registered Radiologic Technologist, the Imaging Student Extern prepares for and assists with x-ray procedures, in accordance with the Extern’s skills/training and the needs of the Department. The Imaging Student Extern must be currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited school of radiography and can perform higher-level procedures once competency is achieved. ??

What you will do in this role:

• ?Serves as the liaison between patients and departmental physicians and other members of the support team.
• ?Obtains patient histories and screens patients for factors/conditions that may affect the imaging procedure.
• ?Transports patients to and from the procedure area.
• ?Assists in preparing and positioning patients for procedures. Performs patient verification prior to procedure.
• ?Remains sensitive to the physical and emotional needs of the patient through good communication, patient assessment, patient monitoring, and patient care skills. Provides basic patient care and comfort.
• ?Notifies Radiologic Technologist of any emergencies or concerns.
• ?Assists in imaging room setup and turnover between patients, ensuring a safe and clean environment.
• ?Assists with the maintenance and organization of radiology supplies.
• ?Performs clerical work as needed, including greeting patients and families, registration, filing, answering and transferring phones, and relaying messages.
• ?Maintains confidentiality of all patient care information to assure that patient’s rights are protected.
• ?Demonstrates an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
• ?Adheres to all facility safety practices.
• ?Participates in educational opportunities to develop optimal patient care, enhanced knowledge, and technical competence.
• ??Performs other duties as assigned. ?
• ??Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” and “Mission and Value Statement.”?

What qualifications you will need:

• ?Must be currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited school of Radiography.
• 1+ years of imaging education completed, or as mandated by state of practice.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
