Certifications: Current CPR Certification required

Must-Have:
- Completion of a background check. If the candidate has not lived in Ohio for the past 5 years, an FBI background check is required.
- Drug testing using the specified 12-panel test.
- Physical examination completed within one year of the start date.
- TB test completed within one year of the start date.
- Covid Vaccination Card or Covid Vaccination Status (if not vaccinated).
- Attach a resume with the candidate's current address.

Job Description:
- Serve as Medical Director to assure the adequacy and appropriateness of medical care for residents and the veteran population.
- Plan, coordinate, and direct continuous physician coverage for ongoing treatments and medical emergencies.
- Participate in resident care management to assure provision of adequate and comprehensive services, including assisting with the development of policies and procedures.
- Ensure medical compliance with rules and regulations and monitor the quality and appropriateness of medical services and patient care.
- Organize the medical staff, coordinate nurse practitioner's work schedules, and serve in their absence when necessary.
- Meet regularly with the Pharmacy Operations Manager to ensure the availability of current drugs and standardize their usage.
- Visit nursing units as needed and cover when the scheduled doctor is not available.
- Coordinate the transfer of acute medical/surgical cases to local facilities in emergencies.
- Ensure that annual physicals, chest x-rays, EKGs, patient treatments, physician orders, and progress notes are up to date.
- Coordinate rehabilitation treatment and progress.
- Coordinate referrals for specialty care including consultation or acute hospitalization.
- Collaborate with local hospitals and hospice programs, conferring with families and veterans regarding prognosis and treatment.
- Participate on relevant committees to discuss goals and integrate unit functions, and assist in the development of ongoing in-service training for staff.
- Review admission applications for final approval and determine the disability status of veteran residents.
- Perform any additional job-related duties as assigned.
