We are seeking a Nursing Professional Development Specialist (NPDS) to serve as a member of the health care team. The NPDS provides oversight of education for caregivers and interprofessional teams, support for role transition and professional development, and evidence-based quality nursing practice. and supports ChristianaCare, Department of Nursing, Service Line, and department strategic goals. This work will include developing caregivers in alignment with the mission, vision, goals, standardized tools, and best practices established by the Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Department.

  • This position will be a combination of working in an office setting, remotely and in a community health setting.
  • Primarily a Monday through Friday Day Shift position

Responsibilities:

  • Promotes clinical inquiry through participation in nursing research, dissemination of research findings, and integration of new evidence into practice.
  • Mentors caregivers in coordination of quality improvement projects that align with organizational goals.
  • Facilitates system-wide onboarding of caregivers to ensure integration to the role, focusing on retention and growth.
  • Develops, coordinates, and evaluates system-wide and individualized orientation plans and competencies for caregivers that guide the caregiver toward achieving and maintaining job competency.
  • Develops, coordinates, and evaluates competency programs and identifies deficiencies in caregiver competency.
  • Identifies and validates developmental/educational priorities through data-driven analysis of learning needs.
  • Utilizes adult learning principles and instructional design standards to develop and implement quality curriculum, focused on achievement of excellent outcomes.
  • Utilizes valid and reliable methods to measure performance outcomes and quality indicators to revise educational content and delivery methods as evidenced by achieved optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborates with interprofessional teams, leaders, stakeholders, and others to facilitate excellence and positive outcomes.
  • Partners with Nursing Professional Governance councils to effect change and generate positive outcomes.
  • Participates in activities to promote the specialty of Nursing Professional Development.
  • Assists others in professional role development, role transitions, and succession planning through support of mentorship programs.

Requirements:

  • BSN Required, MS/MSN required or must be currently enrolled in program to be completed within 3 years.
  • Specialty certification required.
  • Ambulatory experience preferred.
  • Teaching experience preferred.

Special Requirements:

  • Frequent travel to Ambulatory Care practice settings in Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.
