Responsibilities

Supervise daily activities of the sterile processing associates to ensure adherence to local policies, procedures, and guidelines/standards from regulatory agencies.

  • Oversee decontamination, assembly and sterilization of surgical instruments using Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards.
  • Oversee and complete preparation of all case carts as required by following local inventory standards.
  • Evaluate and document quality assurance program findings and coach team toward improving regular
    audit outcomes.
  • Focus on productivity standards and quality workflow metrics.
  • Conduct hiring, training, directing, development and evaluation of staff.
Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • One or more of the following required:
    • Central Service Tech credentialed from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
    • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree with 1 year of experience OR 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
