This employee is a full stack developer that creates software applications, creates and maintains databases, and creates web interface APIs. The software developed by this employee may be user-facing applications, internal engineering and service tools, or sever side applications that provide access to databases or other data sources. Software applications include production software loading tools, customer facing software distribution tools, and server data processing and management tools. Depending on the project, the employee will either work as an individual or as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The employee sometimes directs the work of other designers and technicians, and performs other duties as assigned.

What Will You Do? 

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for: 

  • Collect and analyze technical information from a variety of sources, including:

    • conversations with engineers, product managers, suppliers, etc.

    • technical documents

    • operation of equipment

    • their own tests & experiments

  • Develop, debug, validate, and/or improve embedded software, desktop, web, and mobile applications, using appropriate design techniques.

  • Develop and de-bug prototypes to demonstrate compliance with specifications.

  • Define measurement techniques, tuning procedures, and special test fixtures for production use.

  • Prepare compliance and production documentation.

  • Meets or exceed typical expectations for creativity, productivity, quality, and safety.

What Do You Need? 

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or closely related technical field.

  • A familiarity with embedded firmware for 8/16/32-bit microcontrollers in C/C++ is preferred.

  • Understanding of real-time operating systems is preferred.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Works well in a team environment.

  • Results-driven and action-oriented; positive and energetic.

  • High degree of personal and professional integrity.

  • Good problem-analysis and resolution skills.

  • Strong process orientation and drive for continuous improvement.

Level I Qualifications

  • Understanding of object-oriented programming languages: C#, Java, C++, Python etc.

  • Understanding of the development of desktop applications.

  • Understanding of web development and hosting technologies: Angular, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, IIS, HTTP, etc.

  • Understanding of the development and use of various APIs and serialization schemes such as XML, Json, etc.

Level II Qualifications

  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages: C#, Java, C++, Python etc.

  • Experience with the development of desktop applications.

  • Experience with web development and hosting technologies: Angular, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, IIS, HTTP, etc.

  • Experience with the development and use of various APIs and serialization schemes such as XML, Json, etc.

Level III Qualifications

  • Experience with SQL database design and query language.

  • Experience with development for mobile platforms including iOS and Android.

  • Experience with the development of application software for embedded Linux systems. Experience in Qt/C++ is preferred.

  • Experience with common communications schemes such as TCP, Bluetooth, RS232, and CAN is preferred.
