Work Performed

Plan and provide professional nursingc are for patients in accordancewith physician orders and established poli cies and procedures to includecollecting and analyzing patient data, dev eloping and implementingnursing care plans, establishing interpersonalre lationships withpatients, evaluating nursing care given and communicatin g to properpersonnel relevant facts about patients, action taken andpati entresponses.Assist other nursing personnel in the delivery of nursing c are and actas team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients oran e ntire unitas assigned.Provide direction and guidance in the properuse, c are and control ofmaterial resources; appraise quality and effectiveness of material andequipment and report results to head nurse; maintain sta ndards ofcleanliness in assigned areas.Observe activities of nursing sta ff and make recommendations to nursingmanagement for improvement in the quality and effectiveness of nursingcare given.Assist in the development and implementation of general policies andprocedures designed toeffect efficiency of operations.Perform other related duties incidentalto the w ork described herein..

Minimum Qualifications


Education

Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN program. Exception: Registered nurses hired between July 1, 2014 and April11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the program within five years of their start date. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014 are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job classification.


Experience

Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required. At a manager's discretion, employees with 6 months of experience who are exceptional performers may be eligible for this level. CN Is are eligible for promotion to CN II by meeting criteria set forth by the DUHS Vizient Nurse Residency Program within 12 months of hire. Promotions can occur at 12 months of hire, but no later than 18 months of hire.


Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
