Responsibilities

Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.

  • Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
  • Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
  • Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
  • Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.
Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • One or more of the following required:
    • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
    • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR required professional licensure at time of hire.

Night shift: 7:00PM - 7:30AM

If you enjoy working in a collaborative & fast paced environment where you can put your critical thinking skills to use, this is the position for you This 24/7 PACU provides care for adult and pediatric patient populations with a wide variety of surgeries.

  • 2 years of experience in Acute Care PACU facility, ER, or Critical Care in the past 2 years preferred
  • Prefer Adult and/or Pediatric PACU experience in an acute care setting
  • Provide direct care for the patients in PRE-OP and POST-OP
  • Support and Educate patients and families – procedure and plan of care Evaluate patient responses to treatments and interventions Monitor, record, and communicate with patient conditions as appropriate throughout the PACU recovery
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills & communication skills
  • Prefer Level 1 Trauma Center or Stroke Center hospital experience
  • Have BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
  • Average of 50-60 patients per day – very busy unit
  • No setting up of the Operation Room (OR)
  • Prefer experience with all three phases of perioperative nursing

Ascension St. Vincent is located at 2001 W. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46260 is hiring Full-time, (3) 12-hour shifts per week, Night shift: 7:00PM - 7:30AM. Participation in the on call rotation for holidays and weekends is required. Every other Friday schedule is required.
