Physician assistants (PA) practice medicine under the supervision of a licensed physician fulfilling a broad range of medical services that would otherwise be provided by the physician. The PA shall be permitted to provide any service within his/her scope of training/skills delegated by the supervising physician or the patients physician that has been approved by the Credentials Committee and is within the scope of practice of the physician. PAs provide care for in
- and outpatients primarily in-house including, the Emergency Department, Pre-Admission Testing, the operating room, Employee Health, Psych Care, including pediatrics.
The Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) provides high-acuity inpatient care for adult patients admitted to the Medical Stepdown Unit. Working in collaboration with Critical Care Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Pulmonary/Critical Care, and consulting specialists, the APP manages patients with complex medical conditions requiring continuous monitoring, advanced therapies, and frequent clinical reassessment. The APP functions with a high degree of autonomy in evaluating, diagnosing, treating, and stabilizing patients at risk for clinical deterioration while promoting safe transitions of care and preventing ICU readmissions.
The Medical Stepdown Unit serves as an intermediate level of care between the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and general medical-surgical units, caring for patients with complex critical care needs who require enhanced monitoring and intervention.

Minimum

Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a Graduate of a PA program accredited by The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, or its predecessor.
