Director, Interconnection
Remote, US | Full-time
A well-established independent power producer is hiring a Director of Interconnection to own its interconnection function across a multi-GW pipeline of utility-scale wind, solar and storage projects in the US and Canada.
This is a senior, hands-on technical leadership role. You’ll be the company’s go-to expert on generator interconnection and transmission. You’ll steer projects from queue entry through COD, shape portfolio strategy with executive leadership, and build out the team.
What you’ll do
Own interconnection strategy across the portfolio, including POI selection, queue management and transmission access, and advise leadership on go/no-go decisions
Personally review and challenge feasibility, system impact, affected system and facilities studies, and test alternatives to reduce upgrade costs and schedule risk
Oversee electrical design reviews, including collection systems, project substations and gen-tie lines
Lead negotiations on interconnection agreements and serve as the primary contact with utilities, ISOs and RTOs
Own interconnection budgets, deposits and cost forecasting, with clear portfolio-level risk reporting
Lead technical due diligence on acquisitions and partnerships
Build, mentor and scale a high-performing interconnection team
What you bring
BS in Electrical Engineering (power systems preferred)
10+ years in generation interconnection or transmission planning, with full lifecycle experience taking projects from queue to COD
Strong technical depth: you can review study results critically, not just manage the process
Hands-on power system modeling experience (PSS/E, PowerWorld, TARA or similar)
Deep knowledge of FERC, OATT tariffs and interconnection procedures across multiple ISOs/RTOs
Proven people leadership and cross-functional influence
Nice to have: PE license, advanced degree, storage or hybrid project experience
Must be authorized to work in the U.
S. without sponsorship.
