Kitchen Manager – $30-$35/hr | Geddy’s | Bar Harbor, Maine
Geddy’s is seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager to join our team in downtown Bar Harbor.
We are a busy, fast-paced restaurant looking for a confident, hands‑on leader who is organized under pressure and comfortable taking responsibility for day‑to‑day back‑of‑house operations.
The ideal candidate will have previous kitchen management or strong supervisory experience, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to maintain a positive, efficient, and high‑performing kitchen environment.
Responsibilities include:
Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation
Lead, supervise, schedule, and support kitchen staff
Maintain consistent food quality, portioning, presentation, and service standards
Oversee ordering, inventory, stock levels, and waste control
Monitor food and labor costs and support overall cost‑control efforts
Maintain high standards for cleanliness, sanitation, food safety, and regulatory compliance
Train and mentor kitchen staff on procedures, culinary standards, and best practices
Work closely with ownership, management, and front‑of‑house staff to ensure smooth service and a positive guest experience
Help maintain an organized, efficient kitchen during high‑volume service
Qualifications:
Proven kitchen management or supervisory experience in a high‑volume restaurant
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Solid understanding of food preparation, kitchen operations, inventory management, and cost control
Thorough knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
Ability to stay calm, organized, and effective in a fast‑paced environment
Experience training and managing kitchen staff
Familiarity with scheduling, inventory, and restaurant management systems is a plus
Commitment to teamwork, hospitality, and maintaining high standards
Pay: $30–$35/hour, depending on experience
Full‑time position with competitive compensation for the right candidate. The position will begin as hourly, with the opportunity to transition to a salaried role next year. Geddy’s season runs through early December and the restaurant reopens in early March.
