About Hock Construction Company
Hock Construction Company is a commercial general contractor proudly owned by a service-disabled veteran. We build ground-up commercial, pre-engineered metal buildings, federal, K-12, sports, retail, and car wash projects in 47 states.
We self-perform the work that drives a schedule: site and civil, foundations, structural concrete, masonry, and metal building erection. Recent work includes a full general contract for a QA/QC lab in South Florida, a ground-up quick lube, car wash, and restaurant shell in Charlotte, a federal pumping plant in New Mexico, and a generator and maintenance building for an energy client in West Texas.
Our standard is simple: do the right thing, even when no one is watching.
The role
You are Hock on the jobsite. You run the site day to day, lead our crews and subcontractors, and own safety, quality, and schedule from mobilization through closeout. You will move from project to project, so you need to be comfortable living on the road full time and good at building trust fast with a new owner, new subs, and a new inspector on every job.
What you will do
Run daily field operations on ground-up commercial, tenant finish-out, metal building, federal, and K-12 projects, typically $200K to $5M
Lead self-perform crews on foundations, concrete, masonry, site work, and steel erection
Schedule and coordinate subcontractors, deliveries, and inspections
Build and hold the three-week look-ahead against the master schedule
Run the site safety program: daily huddles, weekly toolbox talks, JHAs, and incident reporting
Enforce quality: layout checks, pre-pour and pre-erection checks, punch lists
Write daily reports with photos, manpower, weather, and delays
Flag RFIs, field changes, and potential change orders early to the Project Manager
Be the face of Hock with the owner's rep, inspectors, and the public on site
Manage site logistics on active campuses, military bases, and operating facilities
Close out cleanly: final inspections, punch completion, as-builts, and turnover
What you bring
5+ years as a superintendent or assistant superintendent on commercial projects
Hands-on ground-up commercial experience, from site work through turnover
Strong working knowledge of concrete, masonry, and site work. Metal building experience is a plus
OSHA 30 (or willingness to get it within 60 days)
Able to read and build from drawings and specs
Comfort with tablets and field software for daily reports and photos (we use JobTread and Google Workspace)
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
Willing to travel full time and stay near the jobsite for the length of each project
Able to pass a background check and drug screen, including for base and federal site access
Nice to have
Federal project experience (USACE, Bureau of Reclamation, Air Force, or similar)
USACE Construction Quality Management (CQM-C) certificate
Familiarity with EM 385-1-1 safety requirements
K-12 or occupied-campus experience
Bilingual English and Spanish
Military or veteran background
What we offer
Travel and lodging paid on the road
Vehicle allowance or fuel card
A seat at the table at a growing company where your input shapes how we build
Leadership that came up through the field and has your back
Veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.
