Programmer Analyst 4 – Senior Java Full Stack DeveloperWe are seeking an experienced Programmer Analyst 4 – Senior Java Full Stack Developer to support the Virginia Department of Social Services (DSS) in Glen Allen, Virginia.
This contract opportunity requires advanced expertise in Java, Java Enterprise Edition (JEE/J2EE), Spring Boot, Python, Oracle SQL, enterprise application servers, and full-stack application development.
The successful candidate will design, develop, enhance, and maintain complex enterprise web applications while supporting microservices architecture, RESTful API integrations, secure application development, and automated deployment processes.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience building and maintaining Java/JEE applications using Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB), JavaServer Faces (JSF), Spring, Spring Boot, and Oracle databases.
The requisition identifies the work arrangement as on-site and requires candidates to confirm availability to work in the Glen Allen office at least two days per week. The exact on-site schedule must be confirmed with the agency.
Qualified candidates should demonstrate at least ten years of experience in Java, J2EE/JEE, Spring and Spring Boot, Oracle SQL, and enterprise application server technologies.
Applicants must also possess at least eight years of experience with GitHub and CI/CD practices and five years of Python experience.
Candidates should be local to the Richmond, Virginia, area and must be willing and able to report to the Glen Allen office at least two days per week, subject to the agency's final on-site schedule.
Applicants must confirm that they will physically reside within the United States throughout the assignment in accordance with Commonwealth of Virginia security policies. Offshore IT contractors are prohibited.
The Programmer Analyst 4 – Senior Java Full Stack Developer will design, develop, implement, and maintain complex enterprise web applications for the Virginia Department of Social Services.
This position requires hands-on involvement throughout the software development lifecycle, including solution design, application development, integration, testing, deployment, maintenance, and system upgrades.
The developer will build scalable microservices using Spring Boot and event-driven architecture patterns, develop RESTful APIs, and maintain Java/JEE applications that use technologies such as EJB and JSF.
The role also requires advanced Oracle SQL development, experience with persistence frameworks, and familiarity with enterprise application servers such as IBM WebSphere or equivalent platforms.
Working with DevOps teams, the developer will support CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and automation tools while applying secure integration practices, including OAuth2, JWT, and encryption standards.
The successful candidate must be capable of independently delivering reliable enterprise software solutions and maintaining existing production applications.
