Provider Services Representative

Pay: $20-24/hr.

Schedule: MondayFriday, 8:00 AM5:00 PM

Location: Hybrid/Portland, ME

Assignment Length: Approximately 5 months

About the Role

We are seeking a Provider Services Representative for a temporary, approximately five-month assignment. This is a customer-service-focused position supporting healthcare providers and medical offices with questions related to benefits, member eligibility, plan coverage, policies, and other health plan-related inquiries.

You do not need previous Provider Services experience to be considered. We are open to candidates with strong customer service backgrounds who are comfortable learning healthcare terminology and policies, researching detailed questions, navigating multiple computer systems, and providing professional service over the phone.

What You'll Do

  • Respond to incoming calls and questions from healthcare providers and related organizations
  • Assist with questions regarding benefits, eligibility, coverage, policies, and other health plan information
  • Research issues and provide accurate information based on established policies and procedures
  • Document calls, questions, and resolutions clearly and accurately
  • Follow up on issues that cannot be resolved during the initial interaction
  • Navigate multiple systems while speaking with providers
  • Collaborate with other departments to research and resolve more complex questions
  • Maintain professional and helpful communication, even during challenging interactions
  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of customer service experience
  • Strong phone-based customer service and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills with quick and accurate data entry
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organization, documentation, and follow-up skills
  • Ability to research information and problem-solve
  • Strong active listening skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating with a larger team

  • High-volume phone-based customer service

Strong contact center/customer service experience with transferable skills is encouraged. If you're comfortable researching detailed questions, learning new systems and procedures, and helping customers navigate complex information, we'd like to hear from you.
