Integration Engineer 4 – Mainframe DB2 DBA

We are seeking Integration Engineers who are passionate about marrying mainframe data systems with emerging cloud technologies to join our team. As an Integration Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving major mainframe modernization and enterprise integration transformations within Capital One.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and administer mission-critical IBM DB2 on z/OS environments, acting as the subject matter expert for both Application and Systems DBA activities
- Lead mainframe application maintenance and modernization journeys, with a heavy focus on the resiliency, high availability, and disaster recovery of business applications and payment processing systems
- Utilize advanced DB2 performance and tuning tools (such as Omegamon, Query Workload Tuner, and IBM Admin Tool Suite) to optimize both Batch (JCL, IWS) and Online (CICS) mainframe processing systems
- Ensure the integrity, security, and compliance of enterprise data by implementing Pervasive Encryption for DB2 and datasets, managing x509 certificates, and navigating mainframe security (RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret)
- Bridge the gap between legacy systems and modern architecture by enabling secure, distributed cloud connectivity to DB2, utilizing Mainframe RESTful APIs and Python on z/OS
- Work within and across Agile teams (using Jira and Confluence) to design, test, implement, and support technical solutions, while developing comprehensive documentation for system configurations
- Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, mentor junior team members, and drive continuous improvement of database engineering practices
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 4 years of experience designing and maintaining cross-platform or cloud integrations
- At least 3 years of experience automating system configuration or data workflows
- At least 3 years of experience working with relational database systems or Mainframe DB2 applications
Preferred Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience as an Application Database Administrator or Systems Database Administrator
- 5+ years of experience with distributed and cloud connectivity to IBM DB2
- 4+ years of experience with Pervasive Encryption for IBM DB2 or datasets
- 5+ years of experience with DB2 performance tools (such as Omegamon for DB2, Query Workload Tuner, Query Monitor, IBM Performance Expert, or IBM Admin Tool Suite)
- 3+ years of experience with mainframe application disaster recovery and system resiliency planning
- 3+ years of experience with RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret security management
- 2+ years of experience with x509 certificate management on z/OS
- 3+ years of experience with payment gateways, payment security standards, and credit card processing systems
- 3+ years of experience working in an Agile environment using Jira and team collaboration software such as Confluence
- 3+ years of experience developing technical documentation for system designs, processes, and configurations
- 5+ years of experience with COBOL programming and JCL
- 3+ years of experience with VSAM file systems and dataset structures
- 3+ years of experience with CICS transaction processing systems
- 2+ years of experience with Python on z/OS or Mainframe RESTful API technologies
- 3+ years of experience with source code and version control packages (such as Endevor or ChangeMan)
- Experience participating in mainframe modernization initiatives
- Experience mentoring junior database administrators or technical team members

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
