Apply Today    Where You Will Work  Tyrone is an open-pit copper mining complex located in Grant County, New Mexico – just 10 miles south of the historic mining community of Silver City. From unique shopping finds in the galleries to everyday groceries, schools and housing, there are numerous amenities for everyone.  Visit Silver City to learn more. What You Will DoProvides geomechanical project oversight and review relating to outside consultants, pit slope water control, structural geology, design slope angles and interfacing with mine design and planning. Reviews slope stability data collection, analysis and remedial work including slope monitoring data processing, rock strength parameters, geologic structures, slope control blast designs, and slope angle reviews. Communicate accurate, timely and relevant slope stability and geomechanical information to mine and site personnel. Conduct and communicate the results of inspections of pit walls, stockpiles, and site access roads.
Proactively seek improvements to the safe mining of mine reserves relating to slope monitoring, slope maintenance, slope and catch bench designs, blasting, geomechanical data acquisition and analyses.
Assists with the development, maintenance and implementations of strategic plans to enhance the mine’s slope stability program. May represent the site on company sponsored steering teams related to geomechanical or mine slope stability efforts. Overall property slope management functions for pit slopes, and stockpiles.

Develop, maintain and implement strategic plans to enhance the mine’s slope stability program.
Usage of appropriate software (MS Office, AutoCAD) and Geotechnical data analysis, Mintec’s MineSight (or equivalent)Perform other duties as required.
What You Bring To FreeportBachelor's degree in Mine Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related Engineering discipline and five (5) years of Engineering experience in hard rock mining relating to rock mechanics and rock slope stability, ORMaster's degree in Mine Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related Engineering discipline and three (3) years of Engineering experience in hard rock mining relating to rock mechanics and rock slope stabilityKnowledge of the principles and practices of EngineeringAble to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusionsAbility to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautionsSkilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazardsAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and in writingPreferred QualificationsM.
S. Degree in Mining, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering with a minimum 7 years ofexperience in hard rock mining relating to rock mechanics and rock slope stability.

You The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $97,500.00-$138,000.00. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
