Staff Accompanist

The First UMC Laurinburg Accompanist/Church Musician is a part-time position that reports to the pastor and is responsible for playing the piano and/or organ in the sanctuary for 11:00 Sunday morning worship services. Sunday Worship: Play prelude, postlude, offertory, doxology and accompany congregational hymns and choir anthem each week. Choir Rehearsals: Accompany choir prac:ces as needed and warm-ups before Sunday services. Special Services: Provide music for seasonal services including but not limited to Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, and Holy Week and play for funerals when possible. Collaboration: Meet regularly with the pastor and music director to review song selections and service flow. Advanced piano skills; Strong ability to read music and learn new pieces quickly. Punctual for scheduled rehearsals and Sunday services. Teamwork: Posi:ve aRtude when working with clergy, choir members, and other church staff. Steinway grand piano and Casavant Frères organ, which was made specifically for the church around the late 1980s.
