Manufacturing Specialist (Falcon Components)
SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.
Manufacturing Specialist (Falcon Components)
The Propulsion Components team develops the most advanced launch vehicle components in the world. Our team serves as hardware experts for the flow control devices and mechanisms that drive the critical capabilities on our Falcon vehicles
- from engine throttling to attitude control. We design, build and test valves, regulators, and actuators for maximum reliability in extreme environments, with temperatures ranging from +900F to -400F and pressures beyond 5,000 psig. Manufacturing specialists are primarily responsible for building, operating, and maintaining the critical test facilities and play a key role in the build process by providing feedback to engineers on how the resources will be operated and maintained.
Responsibilities:
Provide subject matter expertise on multiple manufacturing processes and products, including peer mentoring and development of teammates Perform tests independently or with engineers, according to test procedures and design requirements and provide data and preliminary test results to interested parties Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes, equipment, and the work environment, support productivity improvements Collaborate with engineers to develop and document test procedures Provide testing/building support for production on T1 product when needed Assist production teams with corrective actions Assist in the design of fixtures, assembly tooling, test setups, and stands to be used in production, and/or for development Assist in the tracking, procurement and servicing of critical calibrated instrumentation and spare hardware Identify and implement improvements to assembly and to test processes, assets, and procedures to increase efficiency of the team and the reliability of our processes Help to put together training material (TRNs, SOPs, etc.) for team members to increase the capability of the larger team Maintain clear communication with engineering, production, and scheduling teams as required Manage work orders, and implement process improvements to maximize safety and hardware reliability; minimize production waste and cost Collaborate with engineers, subject matter experts, supply chain, and technicians to solve small to large-scale production challenges Communicate on a daily basis with supporting departments such as production, engineering, maintenance, quality, and design engineering to ensure that product is delivered on time and at rate Develop, qualify, and refine manufacturing processes to meet all design and business requirements including safety, quality, efficiency and delivery Basic
