Overview:
As Chick-fil-A embarks on a multi-year Supply Chain Transformation journey, we are looking for a Lead Front-End Software Engineer to lead the design, implementation, rollout, and operational support teams for a new Chick-fil-A owned and developed Supply Chain Ordering, Inventory Management, and Customer Service platform.

 

This role will live in our Digital Transformation and Technology (DTT) department and work closely with an agile team including other software engineers, product owners, scrum masters, systems
analysts, quality engineers, and system reliability engineers. As well, the Lead Software Engineer will partner with enterprise architecture and members of the center of excellence to enable and unlock the next generation of Supply Chain capabilities. This role will build deep technical expertise around Restaurant-facing Supply Chain needs and capabilities. As a key platform responsible for critical Restaurant operations, this role will be responsible for delivering design, architecture, and build-out of an easy-to-use, best-in-class system to directly improve the business efficiencies of Operators and their team including the following outcomes:

 

A unified, seamless user experience across all Restaurant facing Supply Chain technology: Forecasting, Inventory management, Ordering, Credits, Customer Service, etc.

One-click credit functionality

Integrated Customer Service capabilities allowing second mile service and innovation efforts

Heightened visibility into chain-wide COGS and order fill rates, etc.

A highly adaptable platform capable of pivoting to solve next-generation business needs—providing a user experience enabling Market Ecosystem concepts, omni channel ordering, seamless order splitting and rerouting between distributors, market distribution centers, etc.

Responsibilities:
Own the solution architecture decisions for your team’s product

Lead delivery and operations of the team’s product, including both individual contribution and support as well as delegated tasks and support to your team’s engineers. We desire our lead engineers to be both leads and engineers, spending about half of their time on leading others and half contributing engineering work themselves.

Lead, mentor, and assess other staff engineers, exemplifying and teaching best practices, helping to solve knotty problems, reviewing code, and sharing stories.

Interview, select, onboard, and oversee contract engineers.

Guide engineering team in adoption of Chick-fil-A software engineering standards

Identify & propose emerging software engineering technologies, methodologies and/or approaches.

Delegate engineering assignments & assess engineering performance.

Help provide support for the portfolio of solutions the team owns.

Understand specific business processes and requirements and translate them to software functional requirements.

Value team excellence over individual productivity.

Note - Working in a DevOps model, this opportunity includes both building and running solutions that could require off hours support. This support is shared amongst the team members to cover weekends and weeknights. The goal is to design for failure and, using cloud-native infrastructure patterns, automate responses to possible issues so they can be worked during normal hours.

 

Minimum Qualifications:
Experience designing complex software solutions

Expert-level knowledge in design and programming using front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vuejs

Experience with GraphQL

Experience with Relational and Non-Relational databases

Experience with API first design

Familiarity with git version control and code merging/branching; specific experience with git

Familiarity with Agile principles as applied to software development

Experience developing and deploying applications via cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)

Preferred Qualifications:
Expert level knowledge and hands on experience with React

Experience with Next.js

Experience with Vercel

Experience with the micro-frontend pattern

Experience working within a monorepo

Experience with AWS Amplify

Experience with AWS AppSync

Experience with DynamoDB

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Experience mentoring and leading a team

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Proven ability to positively influence the engineering culture and practices in a professional environment

Experience with test-driven development, continuous integration and deployment, Scrum or Kanban discipline, or comparable software development practices

Experience developing and delivering microservices

Familiarity using test-driven development frameworks or automated testing tools for mobile development

Deep understanding of AWS architecture

Experience working with an agile development methodology featuring sprints, points estimation, and daily standups

Experience in design, data collection, and data analysis
