Overview:
The Surgical Technician II ensures that the Operating Suite is adequately prepared for procedure by preparing instrumentation and equipment.

Responsibilities:
Assists surgeon by passing instruments during operative and invasive procedures.

Maintains sterile technique at all times.

Demonstrates the ability to clean and sterilize all surgical instruments.

Actively participates in all performance improvement activities and team meetings.

Qualifications:
Must possess a high school diploma or GED

Graduation from a Surgical Technology Program

Prefer 2-3 years Surgical Technology experience

Certification Requirements:

Certificate from Surgical Technologist Program or 3 years experience

CPR

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel

Microsoft Outlook

Meditech (if applicable to position)

Epic (if applicable to position)

Performance Manager/NetLearning

Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following:

Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.

Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.

Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.

Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

Other Requirements:

Scrub role in Operating Room

Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.

Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with internal and external customers.

Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.

Must exhibit patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.

Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing nursing practices.

Self-motivated

Participate in National and International investigational trials for intellectual rewards.
