As a Permanency Counselor your primary role is to ensure that all parties are working together toward stability for the youth and family. Partnering with youth and families, you will identify and engage caring adults to serve as lifelong supports, while also providing coaching to integrate innovative practices like Family Finding and family group decision-making into the system of care.

Responsibilities:
Collaborate with youth and families to identify and involve relatives and natural supports to provide resources for the youth and family
Facilitate meetings with youth, natural supports, and service providers to create a plan for achieving permanency and a successful transition to adulthood
Commit to and engage in self-evaluation as well as organizational efforts goals, strategies, and systemic practices regarding diversity, equity and inclusion
Work closely with partner agency staff to ensure consistent engagement and support from a team of lifelong natural supports, contributing to the development of youth's skills and resources
Offer ongoing consultation to partner agencies, county staff, and fellow Seneca staff on matters related to permanency
Exhibit dedication to concurrent planning, which involves assisting parents in either reunifying with their children or exploring alternative permanency options, leveraging your experience and evident interest in the field
Demonstrate expertise in positive client engagement and communication, particularly when working with parents whose children have been removed due to abuse and neglect
Engage actively in self-evaluation and contribute to the organization's initiatives regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion
Participate in the crisis response/on-call system
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree
1 year of experience working with children in out-of-home care and with families with recent Child Welfare system involvement
Flexible schedule with ability to work evenings and weekends in the community as needed
Be part of a rotating emergency on-call system, scheduled with supervisor ahead of time
Must be at least 21 years of age
Own vehicle, Valid California driver's license and insurability with Seneca's automobile policy
TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements
Must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination
Preferred:
Master’s degree or Bachelor's degree with MHRS certification/eligibility
Bilingual Spanish/English skills
Strong organizational, critical-thinking, and communication skills
Schedule:
Full-time:Mon - Fri; 10AM - 6:30PM
Flexible schedule based on client need with the ability to work some evening/weekend hours as needed
Availability to be part of on-call rotating emergency pager system, scheduled with supervisor ahead of time
Benefits:
Starting at $22.66 - $25.16 per hour, actual salary is dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications for the role
Additional compensation provided upon passing bilingual language proficiency exam
