Custodians

Overview and Responsibilities:
Custodians are responsible for general housekeeping and sanitizing in various areas on campus including classrooms, offices, residence halls, athletic facilities, and grounds. General responsibilities include:

Restroom and shower room cleaning

Carpet maintenance

Trash removal

Dusting

Snow removal

Operation of floor machine for refinishing or buffing of floors as needed

Wall washing

Bleacher setup

Changing of light bulbs

Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:
Essential skills and functions:

Develops and maintains good working relationships and communications at all levels of the organization.

Be able to work nights and weekends if position requires it.

Be able to work outside in the elements year-round.

Observes safety guidelines and follows safety procedures established by the university.

Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively alone and within a team environment.

Support, respect, and advance the mission of Saint Mary’s University as a Lasallian Catholic university.

Education and experience:

Custodial experience in a school or multi-building office/commercial space preferred.

Valid driver’s license preferred.
