Financial Counselor

Overview:
Quincy Medical Group (QMG) has an exciting opportunity for a Patient Financial Counselor to join our team. QMG is a multi-specialty group practice with more than 155 physicians and providers in West Central Illinois, Southeast Iowa, and Northeast Missouri. Responsibilities:
The Patient Financial Counselor is responsible for initiating and coordinating pre-certification and prior authorization for patients with their insurance carrier, ensuring that they receive the medical care without any unnecessary delays or financial burden. This position will provide assistance to patients with patient assistance programs and offer counseling sessions to help them understand their financial responsibilities. 

 

This is an hourly, non-exempt position. Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Work location is in Quincy, IL.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills and experience to include: excellent verbal and written communication skills; organizational skills and attention to detail; sound customer service skills and a working knowledge of medical insurance. Familiarity with grants and financial aid.

 

High school diploma or GED; or 6 months of customer service experience; or a combination of education and experience required. Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance preferred.
