Job Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Managing Editor/Grant Writer to join the Editorial and Grants Services Team, supporting the Gynecology Service of the Department of Surgery as well as faculty in the Gynecologic Disease Management Teams throughout MSK. This supervisory role will manage two staff members and have direct responsibility for a broad range of academic projects, with a focus on editing and project coordination for journal articles and grant applications. We are looking for a proactive, customer-focused professional.

 

This position is a fully remote role with no on-site time, consistent with the overall unit. An individual may request for a hybrid option to allow some travel to campus.

 

You will:

Edit documents requiring substantive, stylistic, and design editing

Serve as the project coordinator on critical projects, such as NIH grant applications, multi-author textbooks, or projects involving other departments, services, or groups

Partner with Associate Director, EGS, to assess need and viability of editorial/grant service functions to meet the needs of the Service and Disease Management Team

Collaborate with Service Chief(s) and faculty on high-level, high-visibility academic projects

Provide training, direction, and development for the Editorial and Grants Services team in the areas of writing/editing, project coordination, report production, readability, layout/design, grant/fund report coordination, fact checking, document tracking, and professional development.

Determine the appropriate level of editing for documents, taking into consideration faculty client requests, quality of original writing, timelines, author preferences, and author guidelines.

You are:

An experienced supervisor or experienced grant editor/project manager interested in staff supervision

Self-motivated individual with confirmed ability to establish relationships, prioritize and multi-task on parallel projects

Adept at planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with goals

A communicator that can easily get along with a diverse group of individuals

Someone confident and able to understand the needs of collaborators.

You have:

A minimum of 5 years of editorial/grants/project management experience, preferred 3+ years of staff management experience

Ability to develop and complete projects with minimal direction.

Extensive experience with substantive editing of medical/life science grant applications, especially NIH and DoD awards. Research articles; oncology experience preferred.

Experience reading and interpreting funding opportunity announcements.

BELS or CRA certification preferred.
