Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced paralegal  to join our legal department. This position will assist the in-house litigation team in many aspects of legal matters and cases and will report to the Deputy General Counsel. 

 

Responsibilities:

Manage and maintain litigation updates in Salesforce to communicate with Customer Care and Sales teams for the East Coast region, including creating, updating, closing litigation updates, and uploading documents as necessary.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure and facilitate smooth operation of document and evidence management

Serves as liaison between outside counsel, internal departments/divisions, and in-house attorneys when necessary and appropriate, including tracking and following up on documents needed for response to notices of claims, response to discovery, demands for arbitration, and subpoenas.

Locate knowledgeable persons to help develop responses to interrogatories and other discovery requests.

Perform investigative and background research to assist outside counsel in our various databases to ensure all necessary evidence has been provided.

Perform ongoing legal and administrative tasks, with minimal direction and guidance, and collaborate on additional matters as needed and directed by management.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively with minimal supervision

3-7 years of paralegal experience, preferably for a litigation law firm, in-house legal department, either are acceptable. Paralegal certificate preferred. 

Advanced proficiency in Adobe Pro, Microsoft O365, SharePoint, DocuSign, as well as willing to learn and become proficient with internal case management systems like Salesforce, Legal Tracker, BuildPro, Exterro, and other commonly used business software to support the requirements of the legal department. 

Experience with civil litigation across claim types and subject matters, including insurance defense, subrogation, premises liability, construction defect is a plus.

Collaborative style with colleagues and outside counsel.

Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the ability to occasionally bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and carry office materials and supplies weighing 25 pounds or less.  Finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.  May be required to operate a motor vehicle.
