Overview:
Rapiscan Systems, an OSI Systems Company, is seeking a Software Test Engineer 2 for the Systems Integration & Test Team, based out of Billerica MA.

 

Rapiscan Systems is an industry leader in detection technology, providing cargo and vehicle inspection systems and services for ports, borders, military, high-threat facilities, and checkpoints to help customers combat terrorism, drug smuggling, illegal immigration, and trade fraud.

 

As a Software Test Engineer 2 of the Systems Integration & Test Team, you will qualify solutions that address each customer's unique security needs from portable x-ray scanners mounted on experimental robots and drones; mobile systems that enhance security at special events such as the Superbowl; to Cargo Scanning systems at airports, seaports, train tracks, and the borders that help our customers identify and stop threats and illegal contraband. The primary function of this role is to define, execute, and defend “customer ready” for each solution delivery within the Cargo Division.

 

The primary focus of this position will be to support the line.

 

Responsibilities:
 

Collaborate with Product Management, Project Management, Engineering, Operations, and Field Service to ensure a strong systems and sub-systems level integration and test strategy is executed against the project objectives.

Work closely with project managers and team leadership to ensure that all requirements are sufficiently detailed to allow test plans to be created and that work estimates include realistic allowances for testing.

Synthesize customer needs and requirements into system test solutions.

Review, evaluate, and derive requirements for testability.

Develop/analyze/execute test plans and coordinate associated procedures and schedules.

Review of software and hardware requirements.

Write SW test plans, prepare, and execute test cases per the guidance and direction of senior level SW Test Engineers and/or Systems Integration and Test Leads.

Able to participate and take the Software Test “lead” role on a multi-disciplined team.

Install, configure, test, and troubleshoot development software on computers/hardware.

Update manual and automated build scripts as required.

Generate and execute Software test procedures on pre-released code.

Execute regression and manual tests.

Update automated build scripts as required.

Assist SW Engineers in the debugging process.

Identify and report defects as needed.

Prepare and present test reports as required.

Perform SW release-related Configuration Management (CM) and documentation tasks.

Qualifications:
BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, equivalent degree and/or work experience.

5+ years of experience in a software test engineer role (installing, configuring, debugging software).

Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting/problem solving skills for Software/Firmware/Hardware.

Capital Equipment experience is desired.

Ability to work “non-office” environments such as manufacturing floor, demo, and field locations as needed and may require the use of PPE (Personal Protection Equipment).

Previous hands-on system and sub-system integration testing experience highly desired

Networking experience is desired.

Cyber Security is desired.

Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple, diverse projects simultaneously.

Must be detail oriented and have the ability to work in a systematic and methodical manner.

Must be flexible, independent, and self-motivated.

Solid understanding of Product development processes.

Solid understanding of Software Product development processes, methodologies, and procedures.

Able to prepare, review, execute, and present pertinent documentation (test plans, test results).

Able to work effectively with engineering, manufacturing, and field service peer groups in a dynamic, collaborative and results oriented environment.

Should be confident, enthusiastic, and able to demonstrate initiative.

Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
