Overview:
The Freshman Programming & Mentoring Coordinator is responsible for initiating contact with first-year students, working with student mentors and Career Coaches, and managing Handshake, the job posting software for early career opportunities.

Responsibilities:
Develop and execute programs and strategies to enhance first-year students' involvement with Career Services

Supervise and expand the student-alumni mentoring initiative via the Hub

Manage the training and supervision of all student Career Coaches, including:

Creating and managing the office coverage schedule and approving student hours

Supervising Career Coach training activities, such as independent summer projects, annual training sessions, and weekly meetings

Leading the Career Coach recruitment process, from promoting vacancies to interviewing and selecting new team members

Assigning Career Coaches to Project Teams based on their skills and interests

Conducting goal-setting sessions with Career Coaches at the start of the year and performance reviews at year-end

Providing ongoing feedback to Career Coaches through student appointment surveys

Aiding Career Coaches in developing Impact Projects and ensuring timely completion of tasks and LinkedIn content

Handling all Career Coach-related duties as needed

Supervise the Career Coach Marketing Project Team in tasks like designing promotional materials, poster printing and display, newsletter submissions, and TV monitor presentations

Collaborate with the Communications Manager to align Marketing and Public Relations campaigns

Publicize available services and resources to students and raise awareness of the Career Services office on campus

Act as a liaison to the Athletics department for student recruitment and other career-related initiatives

Serve as a contact point for other campus faculty/staff to help promote Career Services events and activities

Provide career advice to students, especially first-year students, on an as-needed basis

Support Career Services events and activities during and after business hours as required

Education and Experience

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and experience sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the job functions related to Career Services.

The Career Services department works closely with College staff, students, donors, alumni, and outside employers.  A clean and neat appearance and a pleasant relationship that is supportive of the College mission are essential.  This relationship needs to be pleasant, supportive, and professional, while maintaining confidentiality as needed.
