POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The technology development engineering group is responsible for the development of printheads as well as printhead technologies for future products.   The engineering activities which support these development projects include component design and testing, computer simulation, and experimental test and analysis. 

 

The Intern will support the technology development engineers in the design and improvement of inkjet printheads and technologies.  Responsibilities will include generation of 3D models, mechanical drawings, engineering documentation, experimental design, report writing, data collection and analysis, and presenting results.  Additional hands-on work will include the build and assembly of new printhead prototypes, directly conducting experiments, and on-site trouble-shooting.

Works on problems of limited scope. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained; may have to create new standards and practices for novel experiments. Work is reviewed periodically. Normally receives general instruction on work and new assignments.

Develops stable working relationships internally. Exchanges standard/basic information with colleagues and immediate supervisor, project leaders and other professionals in the team./group.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:             

Design Concept

Solid Modeling

Print Detailing

GD&T application

Prototype testing and evaluation

Other duties may be assigned

Use Excel, VBA and statistics in analysis and correlation of data.

Write and present reports to engineering teams.

Organize and catalog test results data for future reference.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

Technical college level courses completed related to design engineering.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SolidWorks

Ability to work independently with engineering guidance

 

DESIRED:

Experience using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software to model complex physics, for example ANSYS and COMSOL

GD&T experience

Knowledge of ink jet printing systems
