Responsibilities:
The Gluer Operator Trainee position is a learning positon that supports the manufacturing process in the plant operations.  The primary responsibility of the gluer operator trainee position is to learn operate the gluer.  The Gluer Operator starts the machine when all sections are set up and all team members are aware of intention to start. Upon startup of gluer, the Gluer Operator will check cartons for proper folding of creases, caliper and bond as well as check for marks or other defects. The Gluer Operator continuously checks the cartons for defects – cracking, gluing, printing and caliper, etc. If defects are found, the Gluer Operator will stop the machine, if necessary, and make corrective adjustments.

 

 

Qualifications:
This is a training position that is ideal for candidates that like working with machines. The ideal candidate does not have to know how to work on a gluer but be willing to learn how to perform the job role

Duties and Primary Responsibilities that will be learned:

Produce a quality carton at the most productive speed

Perform duties with minimal supervision

Follow work order specification

Make-ready Finishing equipment

Communicates for customized orders to management and other operators

Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.

Operator will also instruct crew in set up on machines, participate in making manual adjustments from time to time, instruct crew of what adjustments to make, he/she will also feed equipment, can participate as needed and instruct crew in what pre-break is need and how to perform this function, and communicate his/her talents to others so that they also learn from his/her expertise

Responsible for daily inspection of equipment

Responsible for products quality conformance

Confers with management for approval after initial quality check

Selects individually finished product off conveyor for Quality Control

Operator trouble shoots print, die cut, registration and quality

Involved in training and developmental goals of department

Responsible and maintains that safety checks are completed on a continuing basis

Works on housekeeping and special projects when applicable

Reports all injuries and accidents

Other duties and special projects are assigned

 

 

Must be:

Mechanically inclined

Physically fit to perform everyday duties

Able to hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning and moving materials, and manipulating things.

Able to use either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes

Able to pro-actively participates in discussing design projects with management, Customers and other departments

Able to reviews and communicates schedules with management and other departments

  

 Language Skill:

Ability to read, verbally communicate and write in English to respond to common inquires or complaints.

Mathematical Skills:

Candidate must have the Ability to work mathematical concepts fundamentals of plain solid math.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of common computer functions.

 Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Candidate must have ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Must be able to bend, lift, push, pull

Must be able to stand during scheduled shift 8 to 12 hours.

Must be able to see, look and feel products

Ability to work a computer and complete paperwork

Ability to multi-task

Ability to think and act quick

Ability to do basic math

Dependable and reliable
