Overview:

Talent Pool: Allied Health

Responsibilities:

Fill and deliver specimen containers to OR and Endo departments. Pick up specimens from OR and Endo as needed to provide timely, effective service.

Maintain morgue and cooler space. Order supplies as needed and perform physical cleaning of morgue and cooler area to meet Hospital environment of care standards. Follow all general safety requirements, plus those specific to the morgue service.

Manage and/or monitor the process of bodies coming in and being released from the morgue.

Manage biohazardous and chemical wastes generated in the morgue and well as in the histology or cytology labs
--------------------------------------------------
Place tissue in containers, including labeling and storage to facilitate accurate record of procedures. Discard tissue in accordance with hospital policy and state and federal law

Prepare body and assist Pathologist in order to facilitate timely, effective autopsy procedures.

Provide compassionate support to family of the deceased, guiding them through the steps necessary to final disposition of the body

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or equivalent, Required
Preferred:
Histology or EMT coursework

EXPERIENCE:

Gross Anatomy environment, Required
Experience in a morgue or mortuary, Preferred

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:

REQUIRED
Drivers License | Valid Drivers License
*If driving Cone Health vehicle, must have 5 years of driving experience and MVR must be approved by Risk Management.
PREFERRED
