Overview:
The Senior Data Systems Engineer is responsible and accountable for development and implementation of database changes, as well as creation of operational data stores, and data models. This role will work to automate the import and export processes for Enterprise system data, collaborating with all internal and external Enterprise partners to ensure data integrity. The Senior Data Systems Engineer will collaborate with the Manager of Data Engineering and Integration Services, Data Architect(s), and Lead Engineer(s) to establish best practices for Enterprise System Date. The Senior Data Systems Engineer will also perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

Remote = Individuals in this position may work at an approved off-site location however, they may be required to occasionally visit an on-site location in Austin, Texas

Responsibilities:
Mentor Data Systems Engineer team members.

Perform changes to database, coding, testing, and implementation.

Automate extraction, transformation, and load data processes.

Create enhancements to existing data model and related platforms.

Collaborate with internal and external project teams and other technical subject matter experts on technical
configuration work.

Develop and execute test plans to verify systems satisfy design requirements, updating configurations based on
results.

Construct, deploy, modify and maintain operational data stores (ie. data marts).

Create stored procedures, views and functions.

Collect and import data from outside sources into production database, ensuring data sets are complete and
accurate.

Collect and export data to outside sources from production database.

Review and validate data transport packages and data migration scripts.

Investigate and troubleshoot coding errors and data flow failures.

Analyze data/interface problems and develop solutions to maintain data integrity and database efficiency.

Adhere to coding standards and participate in peer code reviews.

Answer provider, partner and vendor questions and assist in troubleshooting and resolving problems.

Coordinate with QA Specialists to review test cases for databases and data automations.

Collaborate with Data Architect(s), database administrators and other members of Joint Technology team as
appropriate.

Collaborate with other members of Data Engineering and Integration Services team.

Collaborate with other members of Joint Technology as needed.

Collaborate with Project Management Office (PMO) staff and serve as a subject matter expert (SME) during
project planning.

Create and manage schema documentation and other technical artifacts relating to development.

Utilize standardized department tools/software systems to document work and track progress toward project
milestones and deadlines.

Perform vendor management and oversight as needed.

Have the ability to work outside of standard business hours

Qualifications:
Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field or Associate's Degree in computer science or related field, with 2 years of additional experience in related field or High School
Diploma with 4 years of additional experience in related field

 

Preferred Education

 

 

Minimum Experience

4 years in database programming and administration.

4 years with reporting or business intelligence platforms, particularly SQL Server Reporting Server or Tableau.

4 years in depth experience with databases such as SQL, SAAS, PostgreSQL, Oracle

2 years with integration platforms such as Boomi, Cloverleaf, Mirth, Iguana, CorePoint, Rhapsody, and/or Mulesoft

2 years with ETL platforms such as Pentaho, Informatica, Talend, and/or SSIS

 

Preferred Experience

6 years in Healthcare IT

2 years mentoring other developers

6 years as a database, and/or integration developer

6 years with databases such as MSSQL and/or PostgreSQL

4 years with integration platforms such as Boomi, Cloverleaf, Mirth, Iguana, CorePoint, Rhapsody, and/or Mulesoft

4 years with ETL platforms such as Pentaho, Informatica, Talend, and/or SSIS

 

Experience working with healthcare-related business, finance, operations, and clinical systems

Experience with Bit Bucket, JIRA, Confluence, Source Tree, Trello, Microsoft Office Suite

Experience working on a team utilizing Scrum/Agile methodologies

 

Required Licenses/Certifications Licenses/Certification 
EPIC certification required after six months of hire or within six months of completing EPIC related training Within 6 months of hire.

Boomi Professional Developer certification within 3 months.
