Timekeeping Representative

This position is responsible for performing timekeeping and labor related functions. The ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, while maintaining a strong attention to detail and accuracy is a must. This position will require interaction with all employees and management levels as well as frequent interaction with various Human Resource departments, Payroll Analysts, various audit agencies, and third party providers.
Some, but not all, specific tasks to be performed as follows:
Perform labor and payroll analysis
Research and resolve payroll/labor variances
Assist in labor review and closing activities involved with the weekly labor processing
Update the labor system for new hires, severances and shift changes
Support weekly, monthly, and annual scheduled events; i.e., vacation, sick, personal
time payoffs, plant shutdowns, and all holidays schedules
Analyze and resolve suspense labor and cost distribution variances
Provide support to and interact with government and commercial audit agencies
Assist with special analysis/audits conducted internally by Electric Boat
Develop/analyze various labor recording reports to ensure adherence to company policy
Interact with all levels of management to resolve any policy divergences
Qualifications:
Required:
Associates degree in Accounting OR 5+ years timekeeping or payroll experience
Prior experience in timekeeping or payroll
Internal candidates must be from a department outside of the Operations organization (Casciano/Gabriel)
Preferred:
Bachelor degree in Accounting or equivalent
Prior experience working with mainframe based financial systems
Prior experience using an automated software package for time recording (such as Automated Time & Attendance System)
Prior experience working with more detailed timekeeping related financial activities in a large company environment
Familiarity and prior experience with labor recording supporting union contracts
Prior experience using PeopleSoft HRIS Payroll System
Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Weekend and overtime hours are regularly required to support weekly time recording close activities
Ability to adapt & learn new software applications
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality working with sensitive information
Highly articulate with great verbal and written communication skills
Ability to effectively work as a team player in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
Prior experience in large corporate environment
Ability to formulate queries, create reports, and analyze data
Enthusiastic personality and positive attitude
