Overview:
Opportunity Summary:

General Dynamics, the world’s foremost designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to join the organization within the Information Technology (EBIT) Department. As Electric Boats backlog and work throughput increases, it becomes increasingly imperative that EBIT works on the right projects, at the right time, and according to schedule and budget, in order to support our growing business needs. In support of this goal, the EBIT department has established the Project Management and Strategy team that is responsible for the management of projects across all of EBIT, as well as EBIT’s strategic direction and governance of EBIT processes and quality.

 

Responsibilities of the EBIT PMO and Strategy team:

Project planning, which includes identifying candidate projects, categorizing projects, evaluating projects, prioritizing projects, balancing the project portfolio, selecting the projects to fund, determine funding strategy, and authorizing selected projects.

Establishment and guidance for IT processes and best practices.

Performance monitoring of all EBIT projects which involves regular project progress updates, as well as monitoring and analysis of project metrics.

In support of quality management, the team manages root cause analysis of systemic issues within IT, such as DLS/TLS, Critiques, Level 1 problems, vendor RCAs, etc.

Represent IT in all unplanned events (TLS, Critiques, Level 1s, tiger teams, etc.) across the enterprise

Position Summary:

This organization is looking for a highly motivated individual to join the team, specifically to support our quality management efforts. The successful candidate must be able to work well in a team setting, effectively communicate, and be capable of working independently and with minimal direction. At a high level, Process Engineer position is responsible for managing all aspects of assigned unplanned events to include commitments by IT and for IT, reviewing and spearheading IT process definitions and improvements, working across the organization to resolve problems and address performance gaps.

 

Qualifications:
Required:

Bachelor’s Degree

Minimum of 4+ years of related work experience

Candidate must be from organizations outside of operations (Casciano/Gabriel)

Preferred:

Black Belt Certification – Lean six sigma or equivalent

Experience with project management processes

Experience with Root cause analysis

Experience with team facilitation

Experience with change management (change agent)

Skills:
Candidate must possess and be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal, written, oral communication skills

Candidate must be a self-starter with the proven ability to accomplish goals independently, with minimal oversight

Candidate must be capable of working in a team environment and have proven ability to drive teams and meet deadlines
